Andrew Shea
Vice President, Business Development
For nearly two decades, Andrew Shea has been working with information technology companies such as Symantec, Stellent, and smaller boutique security firms like NetSPI to support their clients’ security needs.
As the Vice President of Business Development at Conventus, a national security solutions provider, Andrew is responsible for expanding a company’s capabilities, creating security services and managing the company’s relationship with Symantec.
An expert on information security, Andrew works with customers to help them understand their existing environments and to help them create a strategic vision and associated roadmap to achieve their security goals. He shares his expertise and knowledge with the American Bar Association, where he currently serves as a member of the Association’s Information Security Committee.
Prior to joining Conventus in 2010, Andrew held positions at Symantec, NetSPI, and IBM, where he developed his security expertise through a variety of customer-facing positions.
Throughout his career, Andrew has successfully created business-centric risk management methodologies, policies, and processes that enable clients to select and prioritize security controls that reduce their enterprise risk. Through these projects, he has mapped solutions for all widely-known state, federal, and industry security regulations (PCI, HIPAA, SOX, FISMA, State Data Security Breach laws). Andrew has spoken nationally on the newest wave of the security threats, Advanced Persistent, and targeted threats. He has identified the key programmatic changes needed by today’s large corporations to successfully identify and defend against these threats.
Following graduation from the University of Notre Dame in 1994, Andrew began his career at Stellent (now Oracle), a systems integrator and enterprise content management firm in Minneapolis. As Business Practice Manager he increased revenue by 200 percent in two consecutive years and increased profitability of the consulting services group by 25 percent over the same two year period.
An entrepreneur at heart, Andrew left Stellent in 1999 to start Shea.exe, a customer-centric strategic marketing and business development services firm focused on serving security service firms in the B2B marketplace. Working with clients such as Fujitsu, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Stellent, Espiria, Ancept, and InsureTrust, he further developed his expertise in security/e-risk management, content/digital asset management, and electronic payment services.

Steve Opfer
Vice President, Operations as a Service
With more than 15 years of experience in IT security industry, Steve Opfer focuses on why clients buy security solutions — including moving from technology components to deployed solutions & processes that solve business needs.
An expert on information security, Steve engages customers to understand their security needs and helps them create a strategic roadmap to achieve their security goals.
As Vice President for Operations as a Service for Conventus, Steve is responsible for directing the company’s emerging Managed Services business through which Conventus provides strategic outsourcing of security solutions for it clients.
Prior to joining Conventus in 2011, Steve spent nearly a decade at Symantec. In his most recent role, Steve was as part of the company’s new Advanced Technology Group for Advanced Security and Compliance Solutions where he specialized in understanding End Point Security Architectures and how to solve customer challenges relating to industry security regulations such as PCI, HIPAA, SOX, etc.
A nationally recognized speaker and author, Steve shares his perspective on the newest wave of the security threats, Advanced Persistent and targeted threats as well as End-Point Security architectures. He has identified the key systematic changes needed by today’s large corporations to successfully identify and defend against these threats. His published pieces have focused on “Building a secure e-commerce solution in both the DMZ and Data Center” and “Security Solutions for the HIPAA Mandate.”
Earlier in his career, Steve held positions with several other security organizations including Intrusion.com as Director of Commercial Sales, as well as NetIQ and Pelican Security covering the Midwest. It is during this period that he began to cultivate his unique approach to developing security solutions. Before moving into a sales role in 1990, Steve was the Director of Software Engineering for Itran Corporation where he won honors for creating “Best New Packaging Product of the Year” in 1988.
Currently pursuing a MBA at Northern Illinois University, Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Franklin Pierce College and an Associate of Science in Factory Automation Engineering from Kishwaukee Junior College.
